A Declaration of Energy Independence

When in the Course of national events it becomes necessary to dissolve the energy dependence which has bound us to foreign nations like Saudi Arabia, Russia and Venezuela, and to assume a comprehensive domestic energy policy, it is necessary that we should declare on this day our intention to achieve Energy Independence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all energy, domestic and foreign, is not created equal, that it is endowed by their producers with certain unalienable qualities, that among these are reliability, abundance and the pursuit of cleanliness.

That to secure this energy, Governments are instituted among Men to implement a comprehensive all-of-the-above energy policy that permits domestic production of abundant energy.  I, therefore, a Representative of the United States of America, solemnly declare on this day our need for Energy Independence.
